Evie is in trouble. She’s out of money, out of luck, and out of time. Desperate to get out of Port Cantor, she stows away on a trading caravan heading for the remote settlements in the hinterlands of Cresca. When she’s found by the biggest and most intimidating alien she’s ever seen, she’s terrified. However she quickly discovers the unexpected kindness behind that fearsome façade.

Guilt ties S’kal to Port Cantor, but his restlessness has driven him into becoming the wagon master for a trading caravan. Although the trips keep him occupied, they don’t bring him peace. Then he uncovers a fragile, frightened stowaway. Caring for the pretty, innocent female awakens his protective instincts, but it also helps soothe his troubled soul.

But S’kal can’t escape the past so easily and Evie has her own demons to confront. Will their journey lead to happiness, or will it be the end of the road for their new relationship?
